The formula is non-toxic and free from synthetic fragrances that can be too much for a cat’s nose. Instead, Tuft + Paws adds charcoal to its formula, which absorbs moisture and traps odors in and around the litter box. I did not take this approach with my felines. Instead, I kept their current litter box (which uses pine pellets) and placed a new litter box filled with Really Great Cat Litter next to the old box. This way, they could use either box at their discretion. Plus, I could determine if they were interested in the new tofu litter without changing their old pine option.
The first thing I noticed when pouring this tofu litter was that I didn’t need to turn my head, cover my nose, and wait for the dust to settle. As someone with asthma, I really appreciate that this litter isn’t irritating my respiratory system. The litter has a very light natural scent that was a pleasant change from my typical litter.
